Safety and Driver Partner Policies
Via is no longer providing rides in Washington, DC. If you have any questions, please see our FAQ page here.
At Via, our top priority is your safety. We take many measures to make sure we’re working with the absolute best Driver Partners out there, and to make sure that your ride with a Via Driver Partner is safe, relaxing, and comfortable. These standards and best practices include the following:
Road Safety
All drivers are instructed to practice road safety by obeying all traffic laws, using a phone mount and ensuring their vehicle is in proper working condition. Our priority is to take you to your destination safely.
DMV and Background Checks
Every one of our drivers must complete a background check and meet local standards in order to drive on the Via platform. Learn more about our background check policies here.
Via has a strict Zero Tolerance policy. We do not tolerate the use of drugs or alcohol by drivers on the Via service platform nor do we tolerate inappropriate behavior by drivers towards passengers. If you believe that your driver may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, if your driver is behaving in a manner that you consider inappropriate or that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, or if your driver engages in conduct which could be considered unlawful or illegal, please ask the driver to terminate the trip immediately. If you feel that you are in imminent danger, please contact the police directly by calling 911. After the ride has concluded, please provide feedback using the Via app, or send us a chat (by clicking "Get Help" here: https://via.app.link), or email us at support@ridewithvia.com to report the issue.
